Lehota pod Vtáčnikom is a large village at the foot of the highest hill of the region – Vtáčnik, 1.345,8 m a.s.l. History of the village goes back to Paleolithic period when the area of Upper Nitra began to be settled. The landmark of the village is Church of St. Cyril and Methodius (since 5th July 1949). Within the village you can find an indoor swimming pool, tennis courts, two gyms, a fitness centre, football, handball and multifunctional courts, a cross trail and an 800-meter-long ski slope which is used by enthusiasts of extreme sport – Downhill during summer months. Village lies within Protected Scenic Area Ponitrie and National Nature Preserve Vtáčnik and that is why the surrounding nature is an ideal place for hiking and cycling. Popular place close to the village are Sekaniny where is a Slovak National Uprising Monument, amphitheatre and ski slope. Moreover, in the direction of the hike to the Vtáčnik, just after village Kamenec pod Vtáčnikom there is a breathtaking rock formation Hrádok.
