History of the town itself is rather ancient and compelling. The signs of life in the territory of Bojnice can be traced all the way back to the ancient prehistoric era when its present area was covered by a warm paleogeneous sea. The history of town is closely linked to Bojnice Castle. The very first written document mentioning an existence of the settlement is famous Abbey of Zobor letter dating back to 1113, where the inhabitants of Bojnice are called “de suburbanis Boymozc…” therefore castle being the oldest historically proven architectural monument in Bojnice. Town of Bojnice is a popular tourist destination. Within its territory are Spa, summer swimming pool, National Zoological Garden, more than 700-year old Lime Tree of King Matej, Prepost Cave, sightseeing tower and many other cultural and historical attractions. Bojnice also offer a number of fine restaurants and high quality accommodation as well as world-class cafés and bars.
