Coal Mining Museum of Upper Nitra in mine Cígeľ offers its visitors an opportunity to experience for themselves the feeling, which for more than 55 years have been feeling miners going underground, and to complete the same route which is daily done by the miners working down there. Museum is located in the bowels of the mountain range Vtáčnik, in the depth of 80 – 300 meters underground, where you will be taken by original mining train. Before going underground you will be given a coat, a helmet, a lamp, a self-rescue device and a registration mark required for your own safety though it also complements the authenticity of the experience. For any entry it is necessary to make an appointment at least one day in advance.

Premises of the HBS – BC established in the mining area of Mine Cígeľ where the mining of brown coal was terminated in 2017 and the disposal of mining works are currently carried out here. For this reason the times of tours are fixed and for every entry it is necessary to place a reservation at least one day in advance. It is possible to take part in tour without reservation although only in the case if the tour takes place and there is a free spot in it.
